Saint-Apollinaire Position Overview

The Metal Products Manufacturing Machine Operator is responsible for operating, adjusting, monitoring, and optimizing automated and semi-automated industrial machinery used in the manufacturing of steel cans and metal packaging products.

 

The incumbent plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with quality control standards, production targets, and workplace safety requirements. This is a skilled industrial position requiring advanced mechanical knowledge and significant hands-on experience in metal fabrication processes.

 

Main Duties of the Machine Operator

  • Operate and adjust metal forming, cutting, shaping and assembly machinery used in the production of steel cans and metal containers

  • Monitor machine parameters and production output to ensure compliance with technical specifications and quality standards

  • Perform machine set-ups, calibrations, and minor mechanical adjustments

  • Inspect finished products using quality control procedures and HACCP standards

  • Troubleshoot production issues and identify mechanical irregularities

  • Ensure optimal machine productivity and minimize downtime

  • Complete detailed production logs and communicate technical information to the production team

  • Participate in preventive maintenance activities

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with industrial safety standards

 

Technical Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of industrial mechanical systems

  • Ability to interpret technical specifications and production requirements

  • Experience with automated production lines in a manufacturing environment

  • Ability to detect mechanical anomalies and implement corrective actions

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage priorities

  • Autonomous, solution-oriented, and capable of working under production pressure

 

Physical Requirements

  • Manual handling of materials

  • Standing for extended periods

  • Repetitive movements

  • Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing environment

 

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum of 5 years of industrial manufacturing experience, preferably in metal packaging production

  • Demonstrated experience in the manufacturing of steel cans or comparable metal products

  • Advanced mechanical aptitude

  • Bilingualism (English/Spanish) considered an asset

 

Conditions of The Job 

 

Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Wage: $35/hour

Day shift and night shift available
