Mechanical Engineering Technician

Under the supervision of the Plant Director, the Mechanical Engineering Technician at Ideal Can is responsible for the design, development, maintenance, and testing of production equipment related to can manufacturing. They are also in charge of preparing cost estimates and scheduling plans for various mechanical and industrial installation projects.
 

Job description

  • Prepare cost and material estimates, as well as planning schedules for various projects;

  • Conduct testing and analysis of production equipment used in can manufacturing;

  • Determine the performance, power, and other characteristics of production equipment in the plant;

  • Design jigs and tools for can manufacturing;

  • Supervise and monitor construction projects and mechanical installations;

  • Develop work execution schedules and oversee their implementation and operation;

  • Develop and interpret plans, drawings, and technical specifications for production equipment used in can manufacturing.


Required Skills

  • College diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology;

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in an industrial environment, ideally in the packaging sector;

  • Relevant experience in the manufacturing of steel food cans;

  • Excellent command of industrial mechanical systems;

  • Strong leadership, organizational skills, and autonomy;

  • Bilingual (English or Spanish).


Salary and conditions

  • Salary to be discussed depending on experience

  • Weekly pay

  • Permanent, full-time (Monday through Thursday)

  • On-site job, in Saint-Apollinaire, QC

  • Day shift
